The nose is the most characteristic part of our face and the most prominent element of our appearance.
Who is rhinoplasty performed for?
17 years of age for girls that we consider to have completed their development. It can be applied to anyone who has appearance and breathing problems after the age of 18 in men.
A nose that affects us psychologically and that we think does not suit our face can be considered as a health problem.
It can negatively affect our self-confidence in many areas from our daily life to social life.
Sometimes curvatures and fractures can seriously affect our breathing with their growing structures.
It can cause problems such as headache, sleep disorders, stress, sinusitis.
Rhinoplasty can be considered for our patients who lives some of these.
What is the cost of rhinoplasty?
The situation of each patient who needs a rhinoplasty operation is different.
In the operation, breathing surgery and external appearance are planned together as a standard. In other words, we apply the process of correcting both the inside and the outside, which we call septorhinoplasty.
Sometimes, we may need to take cartilage from another area because the nasal support structures are not sufficient or because it was used and/or removed in a previous surgery.
If there is not enough tissue in the person's own nose, there is a wide range of operations, from the methods we prefer from the rib or behind the ear to simpler operations that can be performed with their own tissues.
The cost of the operation should be according to the patient's condition.
How is rhinoplasty done?
Some of the rhinoplasty operations performed under general anesthesia can be performed with local anesthesia and sedation if minor interventions are sufficient and the bone will not be touched too much.
They are not very painful surgeries.
It can be done with the open technique or the closed technique.
If the nose is completely opened with an incision made in the middle of the nose, it is called an open technique operation. If it is done completely through the nostrils, if there is no incision from the outside, it is called a closed technique operation.
In both techniques, the success of the operations is determined by the surgeon's experience, not the technique or the tools used.
What is piezo ultrasonic rhinoplasty?
It is a tool for cutting and shaping the nasal bone with ultrasonic waves.
It works specific to bone tissue by giving less damage to soft tissue.
It is controversial that it causes less bruising and edema.
The fact that we have to create space by opening more tissue to use this device while giving less damage to the soft tissue can actually increase edema and bruising.
In fact, technique and method are important here, but more importantly, the sensitivity and work of the surgeon.
As plastic surgeons, we are always more careful about edema and bruises, as we know the tissue well and show respect to the tissue at a high level.
After rhinoplasty operation
1 day of hospitalization is required. Generally, silicone splints are removed after 3 days. Splints are removed after 1 week. If there are stitches, they will be removed after 1 week.
It is preferable to remove the remaining stitches as they always carry the risk of leaving more scars. It can be bandaged with tape again.
In this way, the symmetrical reduction of edema is supported. And the message is given that the operation has been performed and that care must be taken.
Many details such as massage, lying to the left and right, and keeping the head up while lying down are discussed and they are called for the 1st month control.
How is the recovery after rhinoplasty surgery?
The first week after surgery is the period when edema and bruises mostly disappear.
In open operations, after the splint is removed, the process of eliminating edema and determining the shape of the nose continues for a period of at least 6 months to 1 year. 3 months in closed operations.
The image formed on the operating table is the images that we made but the original image has not yet settled. Edema is seen. At least 3 months should be waited for the actual image.
