What Should Be Considered Before Breast Reduction Surgery?
Before the operation, you should inform your surgeon about your general health condition. Your doctor will ask you for the necessary tests in preparation for the operation.
The use of painkillers (especially aspirin) should be discontinued at least 10 days before the operation. Herbal teas, natural food supplements, etc., as they may increase the risk of blood thinning and bleeding. should be cut.
Anesthesia Method and Duration Used
Breast reduction surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and the surgery takes 3-4 hours on average. Under normal conditions, the patient's drains are removed the day after the surgery and the patient is discharged. Stitches 10-12. taken around the day. It may not need to be removed as dissolving stitches are usually used.
After Surgery
The hospital stay is usually 1 day after breast reduction surgery. The next day, if drains are inserted, they are removed and the dressing is completed, and the patient is discharged after wearing a chest corset.
You must use the sports bra recommended by your doctor continuously for 1 month. This bra will both reduce pain and help shape the breast.
After the operation, the breast tissue will be edematous and swollen. The edema decreases rapidly within 3-4 weeks. It may take 6 -12 months to take its final shape. During this period, it is normal to experience a slight pain sensation such as burning and stinging from time to time.
Heavy sports should not be done for 2 months after breast aesthetic surgery. Lifting heavy loads, especially exercises that force the arms and chest muscles, and uncontrolled movements are inconvenient. If the chest muscle is strained, bleeding in the chest and opening of the stitches may occur.
It is recommended not to smoke in the early postoperative period, as smoking may impair wound healing potential.
